August Bandbits

President’s Message

As we head into August, the finish line for our biggest event of the year is in sight. September Superfest is just around the corner on September 19–20, and excitement is building across the region. Superfest is the lifeblood of our club as it brings together hams from all over the Midwest, generates vital support for PAARC, and showcases the very best of our amateur radio community. However, an event of this scale simply cannot happen without our members stepping up. We are in immediate need of volunteers to help make this weekend run smoothly. Stay tuned for info on how to sign up to help. Let’s make sure we have all hands on deck so everyone, including our volunteers, can enjoy the event!

Before Superfest arrives, we have another important opportunity to support and grow our local ham community right here at home. We will be holding our free bi-monthly amateur radio license testing session. If you have friends or family who have been thinking about getting their Technician ticket, or if you’ve been studying to upgrade your own privileges to General or Extra, this is your time to shine. Spread the word to anyone interested in taking the exam and join us at the Morton Knight of Columbus at noon on August 15.

Thank you all for your continued dedication to PAARC, whether you’re building mesh nodes, stepping up for storm coverage, or rolling up your sleeves for Superfest. I look forward to seeing a full house at our August 11 member meeting as we put the finishing touches on our fall plans.

73,

Rob Zell, N9KRZ
President, PAARC
